Pre-Christmas Pamper & Festive Update

So the big day is finally here tomorrow, I've got three days off work to fully enjoy the holidays! I'll be spending time with family, stuffing my face with food (hello five yorkshire puddings on my plate) and watching old films on telly. Before I go into a food coma I thought I'd give you a little update and of course I had to mention some beauty products. Tonight I'm doing a pre-Christmas pamper. I'm whipping out my Sensationials kit and treating my feet to a pedicure. For my festive fingernails I'm opting for golden glitter by No7 which was featured in my last post - one for hardcore glitter lovers. To sort out my dull complexion I'm going to double face mask with the aid of Ren and Guinot. All finished off with my new face oil from Botanics and an early night (and obligatory mince pie).

Right, time to pack away the laptop and sign off Make Me Up for a few days. I'm sure i'll be updating you with a couple of cheeky snaps on Twitter and Instagram. Thank you to everyone who has commented/read/lol'd at my blog this year, you have no idea how much it means to me. Hope you enjoy your Christmas and make sure you spend it with people you love. X

Christmas Nails 2013

A bit of sparkle painted on nails is kinda the done thing at Christmas. This year highstreet brands have really stepped up their game, with glitzy new shades from Rimmel, Barry M and No7 to name just a few. Time to turn your tips into mini disco balls with my top Christmas nail varnish shades!

December is the month for red, from bright reds to deep burgundy shades - anything goes. 'Pillarbox Red' by No7 is from their new Gel-Look Shine range which promises to deliver complete coverage with one coat and a durable gel-look finish. If you want something with more shimmer, JN Beauty has got it covered. This shade in '006' has a opalescent finish to it which looks stylishly subtle worn alone or great as a topcoat. Looking for a gorgeous golden shade suitable for all skin tones? Let me present you with 'Golden Sands' from No7, an opaque colour that only needs one coat.
Every girl should own a bottle of gold nail polish. This cute duo from Ted Baker is perfect for the festive season and would make an adorable stocking filler. Barry M are on top form when it comes to releasing new textured polishes, for Christmas i'm loving '336' which reminds me of tinsel! If you're looking for some grown-up glitter, No7 'Twinkle Glitter' contains shots of shimmer shards and looks beautiful on top of grey or navy blue.

So whether you're an hardcore glitter lover or prefer some subtle shimmer, I hope this post will be of some help! What's your favourite look for a Christmas mani?

Christmas Party Prepping Products

Nice bit of alliteration there.
I love getting dressed up for the festive party season but I've been hiding my pasty pins in cosy leggings for the past few months so I have some serious prepping to do. December has come around so quickly, don't worry I have some beauty bits to help you with your pre-party prepping. I went along to my work Christmas party last Saturday and these are the products I turned to for the event...

The first place to start for me if with a good scrub. I like to use Soap & Glory's Sugar Crush Body Scrub to buff away dead skin cells and ready my skin for some fake tan. Follow up with your favourite moisturiser to keep skin hydrated in the colder months. Use a multi-purpose lotion like Steamcream (12.95) to save time, this handy little tin can be used from top to toe. Steamcream uses the best quality raw maetials, diresctly from sustainable sources making it ethical, affordable and ideal for all skin types. As it is Christmas, I'll be reaching for products with added sparkle. Trilogy's Instant Bronzing Gel (17.50) contains subtle hints of shimmer which adds an instant natural glow to skin. The gel dries quickly so perfect if you're in a rush (I only had 40 minutes to get ready for my work party!).

Time to move onto the fun part - makeup. I opted for a classic red lip with a little twist. I blended Rimmel Apocolips in Eclipse around the edges and brushed Natural Collection lipstick in Crimson onto the centre. I posted a tutorial of this berry ombre look here. Don't forget to hydrate your lips before applying lipstick as it helps lipstick stay put longer. Check out Chapstick Lipsations Shimmer £1.99 as they are formulated with fine shimmer particles which offers subtle highlight. As I went for a bold lip I wanted to keep the eyes looking subtle. I followed Lisa Eldrige's latest tutorial which was a 'Old Hollywood Inspired Party Look' created using vintage gold shades on the eyes. To finish off the look I cut LASH false eyelashes £4.19 from Superdrug in half and placed them on the outer corners. Opt for a waterproof mascara incase one too many mulled wines reignites any family/work feuds. The Collection Does It All Mascara is enhanced with a multi-bristle brush and a five way formula which curls, volumises, lengthens, conditions and is long-wearing.

For nails, go with something quick and easy but a bit different. To get perfect nails with minimum fuss try nail wraps. These ones from supermodel Elle Macpherson (£5.99) come in pink, gold and silver and include a nail file. They are super quick and easy to use.

Whether you'll be spending your Christmas parties with friends, family or collegues, I hope this post has given you some beauty inspiration. Here's a photo of me at my Christmas party last week. It ended well.

Primark Christmas Jumpers 2013

I've never bought a Christmas jumper until now. This year I popped to Primark after seeing everyone's Christmas jumpers last December.

There were SO many to choose from and all costing a very reasonable £12.00. Designs ranged from the subtle, classic xmas jumpers to 3D padded features. I took some photo's of Primarks offerings to help you choose if you're looking to get one. Be quick - these are flying of the shelf! I opted for the one with Santa's bum stuck in the chimney and I haven't taken it off this month! They are surprising good quality and cosy. Don't forget to check out the men's section as they have some goodens.

Have you got a Christmas jumper yet? I'm blogging '12 days of Christmas' this month, catch up here

Shimmery, Glitter Makeup

Glittery, sparkling makeup isn't a look i've been keen to try out, takes me back to my middle school days. Those glitter powder puffs? Yeah , I had one of them. Since then, glitter makeup has grown-up a lot and has recently made it's way onto catwalks at Jason Wu and Dior. Get ready to go all Magpie-eyed on me with these sparkly makeup gems.

Barry M Dazzle Dusts £4.59
These pots of loose glitter are oldies but still a goodie. The loose glitter can get a little messy but these are great value for money and last ages!
Barry M Nail Paint £3.99
A glitter mani is just what you need to get into the festive season. I love these Barry M nail paints, they come in so many different shades and textures. This subtle glitter shades makes a gorgeous topcoat or you could just paint an accent nail for less sparkle.
Eyeko Liquid Metal Liner in Black Onyx* £21.00
A new launch from British beauty brand, Eyeko. The twist-up design means the eyeliner won't dry out! Once you get use to dispensing the right amount it's a doddle to use. Little flecks of gold glitter are suspended in the black liquid adding a subtle, sophisticated twist to the classic cat eye.
Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator in Pink Light £11.99
Tiny particles of glitter are suspended in this light cream, leaving skin with a gorgeous glow without looking shiny. This comes in three different shades to suit all skintones. A little bit goes a long way so I squeeze a small amount onto the back of my hand and use my fingers to dab it onto my cheekbones, brow bone and nose. This highstreet highlighter is a great, cheaper version of Benefit's High Beam - good job Revlon!
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss £6.99
I'm not a massive lipgloss fan but they are ideal for winter as they offer extra moisture and hydration than lipsticks. These go on sheer but you can build it up for a more intense colour. A little hint of shimmer helps to make lips appear fuller. I love the packaging with these, they resemble something more highend.
OPI in Rainbow Connection £12.50
I dont own many OPI varnishes because they are so pricey but I love this multi-coloured shade. This looks great on it's own or layered on top of grey or white. L'oreal have bought out a great dupe for this recently which costs a lot less!

Time to embrace the glitter make up and December is the perfect month to infuse your beauty routine with all things glittery. A few ways to change things up: Mix an illuminator with your body lotion, or brush some loose glitter onto the tips of lashes for a sparkly flutter.

Eye Creams & Gels: Review

Eyecare has always been an important step in my skincare routine. I suffer from hereditary dark circles and dry skin around my eyes so I like to use either an eye cream or gel morning and night. I apply it after cleansing but before moisturising my skin. Here's a selection of some eye creams I reach for when my eye bags are big enough to qualify for extra baggage allowance.
REN Vita Mineral Active 7 Eye Gel £20.00* 15ml
A light and cooling gel which helps to revive tired eyes. You can use this one under or over makeup, the latter I'm yet to try. With this a little bit goes a long way so I only need to apply a small amount. Like all REN products this contains no parabens, sulphates, mineral oil or synthetic fragrances. This helps to cool and refresh my eyes and does reduce puffiness but I don't find this has done a great deal for my dark circles.
L'oral Skin Perfection Awakening Eye Cream £12.99
Designed to ward off crow feet, quench tired eyes and conceal dark circles. This cream is slighted tinted so it does work to correct dark circles and illuminates the under eye area. I can't comment on whether it's any good for fine lines but I'm sure my future self will thank me. Possible favourite out of all five....
HealGel Eye Fix £32* 15ml
Not one for those on a budget but I've found with this a little bit goes a long way. The gel formula has a delicate scent so great for those with sensitive skin. This definitely helps to reduce puffiness and slightly reduces dark circles. I've only been using this for 3 weeks so will be interested to see in a months time whether this is worth the hefty price tag.
Guinot Eye Mask £28.50* 30ml
I didn't even know that you could get a mask for your eyes before coming across this one. This is a thick, clear non-setting gel which instantly cools and  soothes tired eyes. This would be perfect if the skin around your eyes gets irritated. Not only does this moisturise, it also tightens skin and improves circulation to help banish dark circles. I leave this one for ten minutes when my eyes are looking puffy and remove with cleanser. Key ingredients include witch hazel and hyaluronic acid.
Simple Revitilsing Eye Roll On £4.99 15ml £4.99
I keep this in the fridge to keep cool and apply it to my eyes in the morning to wake them up. I love the refreshing feeling the cucumber extract gives and it definitely helps to wake my eyes up. The roller ball makes this really easy to use, also this is a great option for those on a budget ( not pictured because I've misplaced it!).

Are you an eye cream obsessive like me? A special mention goes to Nip + Fab Eye Fix which is in my top 3 favourite eye gels, definitely repurchasing after I've used up these ones!

The Ugly Side of The Beauty Industry

So way back in 2011 I wrote a post about the sexualisation of women in the media (read here if you missed it) and a few things have happened in the past few weeks that have made me want to raise this issue again. It's something I feel very strongly about and as a beauty blogger I feel like it's my responsibility to talk about it.

Firstly, you may have already seen this video before. It was created back in 2011 by Global Democracy. It shows a normal women being photoshopped until she looks unnatural and non-human like. These over photoshopped images are seen everyday and have a huge impact on young girls, putting pressure on how they should look and brainwash their minds with unrealistic ideas of 'beauty'. And don't even get me started on photoshopping in makeup advertisements which i previously wrote about here. I was glad to hear a few months ago, Boots beauty brand No7 ditched air-brushing in all their advertisements and only use real women. I can only hope other brands follow their lead.

This week Lily Allen made a comeback with her new single 'Hard out Here'. The video has caused quite a stir. The jist of it is about how women are exploited in music videos, which of course they are. I applaud Lily for her new video, it is hard out here for a bitch and not just in the media.

Has anyone else been enjoying this years 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here'? I love it but was sad to watch Olympic gold medallist, Rebecca Adlington get upset over her body image. She said that she had been bullied about her looks for years and that she had become very insure as a result. It's so upsetting that she wasn't trying to be a model and yet she was still being criticised for the way she looked rather than what she was achieving.

I wanted to end this serious debate on a lighter note. Earlier in the week I tweeted about this article from Refinery29 - 'Why Beauty Isn't About Being Perfect'. The beauty website pays tribute to three beautiful women with uniquely stunning looks which may not be considered as conventional beauty.

A face with scars, freckles, laughter lines etc...tells a story and is far more interesting then a flawless complexion. I truly believe beauty comes from within, having a pretty face but being a horrible person makes you ugly - beauty is a total package. If you ever feel down about the way you look or dishearten by the over photoshopped images you see, don't forget you're not alone and I'm always here for a chat if anyone wants to email me.

Would love to hear your thoughts on  topic?

Perfume Collection

Hi, my name's Kia and i have a perfume addiction. I like to change up what ones i wear but i do love them all. I'm not swayed by the brand or packaging (ok, maybe a little) the most important thing for me is the scent. Here is a peek into my current perfume collection...

Hugo Boss Orange Sunset
A fruity but floral fragrance with top notes of mandarin orange and bergamote. Hints of vanilla and sandalwood can be detected once settled into the skin making this perfect for daytime.
Especially Escada Elixir
This fragrance is fairly new, launched in July this year. A combination of turkish rose and oriental facts such as patchaouli, vanilla and amber. A sweet, intense scent - one for you rose lovers.
Calvin Klein Shock
An impressive sweet scent without being over bearing. Described as an oriental-floral fragrance with top notes of passion flower and poppy. I'm not sure if i'd describe this as oriental - it kinda reminds me of those refresher sweets you used to get!
Nina Ricci Ricci
A sophisticated scent which can easily be worn everyday or for a special occasion. This definitely has a more mature scent to it than the others. Woody essences are combined lower floral elements to create a delicious fragrance. Top notes include rhubarb zest and bergamot.
Diesl Loverdose
This is very much a love/hate perfum. If you like liquorice and vanilla, you're going to love this. This weet, musky fragrance is really unique and lasts around 6 hours on skin.
Jimmy Choo
A lovely bottle to match an even lovelier fragrance. Read my full review of this here
Chloe Eau De Parfum
If you like rose scented perfumes you'll love this one from Chloe, read my full review here.
Emporio Armani Diamonds
Another sweet scent that isn't too overpowering. A mixture of lychee, raspberry, rose, lily and vanilla make up this fragrance. I love this for everyday and it's not heavy at all.

What is your must-have fragrance? Have you tried any of these?

Hairdressing etiquette: how to avoid those awkward silences

source: weheartit
*guest post*Many people see going to the hairdressers as a chance to sit back, relax and be pampered by an expert, but for others the experience is fraught with worry. Even if you're confident about the end result, the thought of having to engage in mind-numbing small talk can lead you to put off an appointment for as long as possible.
This fear of conversing with strangers has been made worse by an increasing reliance on technology.More transactions are taking place online, since the internet makes it convenient to do everything from pay the phone bill, shop for leggings at Very or buy cereal from an online supermarket. With less personal interaction going on, conversational skills have become a little rusty, and this once pleasurable experience can be a social minefield.
Of course, if you're lucky, it may be that your hairdresser is a master of quick wit with an excellent taste in TV and that an hour spent in their company is a joy. Alternatively, they may be a whizz with the scissors but lacking in interesting chitchat. If you're faced with the latter it may be wise to enter the salon suitably prepared.
If you really can't face talking, you could take a book, make a bee-line for that magazine stack or remain glued to your mobile. Just make sure to glance up every now and then to check you aren't sporting a mullet. As long as you're polite, your hairdresser probably won't mind - they might actually be relieved at not having to ask the fifth person that day where they're heading off on holiday!
Even if you are at the opposite end of the spectrum and your hairdresser is a long-standing confidante, a certain amount of discretion is advised. Just because you trust them with your hair it doesn’t necessarily mean you can do the same when it comes to secrets about your love life!
Finally, it’s time for the big reveal, so remember the central part of hairdressing etiquette. If you are unhappy with the results explain why, and ask them politely but firmly to fix the problem. Hopefully you will love your new 'do and can depart on good terms, free to avoid the whole experience for another six weeks!

New Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks: Review + Swatch

I'm already a huge fan of Rimmel lipsticks so i quickly popped to Boots when i heard they were launching some new shades.

I picked up 'In love with Ginger', a creamy orange red. 'Mayfair Red Lady' which is a blue toned red and also 'Oxford Street Fushia' a barbie pink lipstick shade. The Moisture Renew lipsticks have a glossy finish and are highly pigmented. The staying power for these isn't too bad considering the moisturising formula but i do have to re-apply after eating or drinking. There are ten new shades in total from nudes to dark plums, so something for everyone! My favourite shade has to be 'In Love With Ginger' which i've swatched above(scary close-up!). I've never tried an orange-y lipstick before but i really like it! If you find the Rimmel Matte lipsticks too drying definitely check these out as they're a lot more hydrating.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks retail for £6.49 each. Available at Boots, Superdrug and selected Supermarkets.

L'oreal Mythic Oil Souffle D'or Shampoo & Conditioner: Review

I loved a good oil-based product from dry body oils to cleansing oils - i can't get enough! I've never come across an oil-based shampoo & conditioner until discovering these...

Formulated to leave hair squeaky clean, nourished and looking shiny, this shampoo makes my hair feel light and airy. Both products are infused with Argan and Safflower oil which helps to restore dull looking hair. As you can see from the photos, tiny flecks of gold shimmer are suspended in both products. They look really pretty but unfortunately they serve no purpose as they wash out completely. I thought as these were oil-based products they would leave my hair feeling heavy, but after just one wash my hair is left feeling lightweight. I love the wispy effect these products give my thick hair, i just wish the gold shimmer didn't rinse out!

Both products are paraben and silicone free. They are more expensive then normal L'oreal haircare products as they're from their professional range. The L'oreal Mythic Oil Souffle D'or Shampoo* and Conditioner* are £13.00 each and available to purchase from The Salon Look website here.

How to get Glowy Skin with Makeup

Time to snap shut your bronzer and bring out the winter glow getters. The winter weather can take it's toll on our skin and can leave it looking tired. These make up bits are the perfect pick-me-ups for the colder months.

Lilly Lolo Honey Glow Shimmer Stripes* £19.99
This compact from Lily Lolo is made up of five stripes of soft colour, ranging from a gorgeous dusky rose to a lovely rose gold. The multi-tonal highlighter makes it perfect for custom creating a shade to suit your skintone perfectly or you could use the shades individually. Not only does this add some subtle shimmer to cheeks, you can also use this as eyeshadow. When swirled together the shades collide to create a shimmery pink cocktail with golden undertones. The shades are quite pigmented but it still creates a subtle glow - perfect for winter blues! This product is ideal for those with sensitive skin as it's fragrance and talc free.

L'oreal Lumi Magique Primer £9.99
This is a new addition to my make up bag. I was sold by it's claim to give skin a "lit from within glow". The slim bottle with pump makes it easy to dispense. The pearly white primer is similar to Benefits High Beam, maybe a drugstore dupe? Its thin texture blends into the skin easily leaving a natural, healthy glow. I like to mix it with No7's Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser.

No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser £11.50
The lightweight, creamy texture of this tinted moisturiser creates a dewy finish once applied. 5 star UVA protection and SPF 15 means your skin is protected from the sun and environment. The Vitamin A and E helps to moisture skin, making this great for those with drier complexions. This is great if you're in a rush, skip moisturiser and just pop this on!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer £5.99
This lightweight concealer has an almost gel texture. I think this would be great for those suffering from dry skin as it's quite hydrating. What I love most about this is the fresh natural finish it gives whilst brightening up skin - perfect for under eye circles!

L'oreal Universal Lip Glow £8.49
A unique lipstick which changes colour to the heat and moisture of your lips to create your own bespoke lipstick shade! Your tailor-made colour is revealed gradually resulting in a just-bitten, pink stained look with a dewy finish. This wonder balm completes the glowy skin look, i do think it's a little over-priced though.

I love glowy skin so i'm reaching for these beauties everyday! What product do you use for a radiant complexion?

Personal Planner Giveaway

Who loves stationary and free stuff? Well then, you're in for a treat today. The lovely people over at Personal Planner are letting me giveaway a planner to one of my lucky readers.

Above is my own planner, don't worry you wont be winning that exact one (that would be weird). The first thing to do is choose the front cover. I couldn't pick just one photo so i created a collage on Picasa and uploaded it. I then choose what design i wanted on the inside pages, i went for a pink and grey colour scheme. You can also edit whether you want lined, blank or square paper. You can include to-do lists, graphs and add special dates - this is perfect for keeping your blog/life organized!

If you would like to win a Personal Planner like the one i created above simply fill out the Rafflecoptor form. Giveaway is open to UK residents and ends on Monday 11 November. Check out Personal Planner on twitter here and head over to their Facebook page here.

Best Makeup & Tips for Taking Selfies

If you've got instagram (or a phone with a camera) i bet you'v been taking some selfies, come on we've all done it! If you're not sure what a selfie is, Urban Dictionary describe it as "A picture taken of yourself that is planned to be uploaded to Facebook, Myspace or any other sort of social networking website. You can usually see the person's arm holding out the camera in which case you can clearly tell that this person does not have any friends to take pictures of them so they resort to Myspace to find internet friends and post pictures of themselves, taken by themselves. A selfie is usually accompanied by a kissy face or the individual looking in a direction that is not towards the camera."

Now, before we get started I'm not saying you need to wear makeup to take a Selfie, but these are just some tips if you choose to take photo's wearing makeup.

1.The most important thing when it comes to doing make up is to apply it in natural light. This way you can avoid wearing foundation that's too dark/light and see clearly if everything looks ok.
2. Our under eye concealer is usually lighter than our foundation so pay extra attention when blending in. Flash photography really accentuates harsh lines creating a reverse raccoon effect.
3.. Make sure to use black liner and mascara as it gives more of a contrast and will help to make your eye colour 'pop'.
4. Applying blusher is a must otherwise skin can look washed out.
5. Don't skip lipstick otherwise your mouth will blend in with the rest of your face. Put on a bold lip or even something nude - depending on what look you're going for.
6. Last but most importantly, if you decided to take a selfie wearing make up do not add the hashtag #nomakeup or put "no make up on, lols i'm so ugly." The fine print of posting this picture reads, "I look really good without make up on and I want you to know."

What are your go-to products for taking cheeky selfies? Do you have any other tips to add?

New Blog Design!

After growing a very bored of my old blog design i decided it was time for a change. I've always tried to edit my blog layout myself (as you could probably tell!) but i'm not very good with html so i got a professional to do it this time! The incredibly talented team at Pipdig created my new layout. I simply told them what colour scheme i wanted and sent them some links to a few blog designs i liked and they quickly came up with the final design. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There's less clutter, it looks more professional and is hopefully easier to navigate for you.

I hoping this will be a new chapter for Make Me Up. I plan on creating more unique and interesting content for you. I can't stand it when beauty blogs just post review after review, it's nice to change things up! This may mean i'll be posting less often but the quality will hopefully be better. I have a giveaway coming up in a few weeks just to say thank you for all your support, it means a lot to me!

I'd really recommend Pipdig if your looking to get your blog re-designed. Their prices start from just £5, check out the website here. What do you think of the new look?

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation: Review

Rimmel are cranking out the new releases this Autumn/Winter. New Apocalips shades, Moisture Renew Lipsticks, Retro Glam Mascara and they've just announced Rita Ora will be collaborating with the brand soon. I'm still not sure whether i love or loathe Wake Me Up but I thought i'd give Rimmel's latest foundation offering a go.
This is a liquid mousse so it has quite a thick texture but it still blends into the skin easily and doesn't feel cakey. I have the shade 'Ivory' which is the second lightest and is a tad too dark for my pale skin. As you can see from the swatch it has pink, almost grey undertones to it. I apply this with my RT flat foundation brush to get maximum coverage. This foundation leaves skin looking flawless and does a good job at covering redness and blemishes. I find i don't need to use concealer for my spots when i use this! I would describe the finish as velvety as it's not completely matte.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation £5.99 from Boots

Have you tried this foundation before, how did you get on?

Three Ways to Wear Blue Mascara

So blue mascara is nothing new; I bet your nan was rocking it way before your mum was born (mine still is). I understand if you're scared of trying it, when you think of blue mascara, stylish isn't the first word that comes to mind. But coloured mascara can be cool. Here are three different ways to wear blue mascara without looking too 80's. It's a great way to update your make up look if you're stuck in a rut.

1. If you want to try blue mascara but can't bare to part with your trusty black mascara, this look is perfect. Apply your favourite mascara to your top lashes then take the blue mascara and apply just to the bottom lashes. This makes brown/blues eyes really stand out.

2. Don't be scared, all over blue sounds so wrong but done right it looks so hot (cue Cara). To avoid looking too 80's don't wear matching blue eyeshadow. Instead go for a complimentary shade like copper. To keep the look simple add little or no eye liner and a light pink blush. Lip-wise opt for a berry hue with blue undertones to subtly compliment the mascara.

3. This last look is definitely the most wearable. Apply black mascara to the roots of your top lashes followed by placing blue mascara just on the tips for a dip-dyed effect. This is a really subtle take on blue mascara but still looks great. People will catch hints of blue every time you blink! Alternatively, put the blue mascara on your roots and black on the tips.

I used the new Eyeko Black Magic Mascara in Midnight Blue, £18.00 available from the Eyeko website here

Are you brave enough to try blue mascara?

Jimmy Choo Perfume: Review

Jimmy Choo are famously known for their iconic footwear but did you know they also make fragrances? The newest addition to my perfume collection is Jimmy Choo's debut fragrance. Jimmy Choo launched a second fragrance, Flash, earlier this year - which I've sniffed and few times and love!
The fragrance is inspired by strong women, empowered, beautiful, alluring with a hidden and mysterious sense of confidence. With a blend of tiger orchid, sweet toffee and patchouli, this perfume is deliciously sweet and long lasting. Housed in a pale pink bottle this scent looks lovely on display. The box is also pink with a snakeskin design on it. It's one of those fragrances that just 'goes' with everything. Usually you'll have a day and a night fragrance but this seems to suit both.

If you're a fan of sweet perfumes, definitely check this out. Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum* £49.00 for 60ml available on the Debenhams website here or instore.

Highstreet Concealer Favourites + Swatches

Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener £9.99
I was expecting not to like this very much but anything claiming to brighten tired eyes? I'm on that. This is marketed as a brigthener and a primer. Pop it under your eyes to help conceal darkness or place on lids before applying eyeshadow. The consistency of this light and easy to blend so won't feel cakey or crease. I have the shade 003 and as you can tell from the swatches it is very pink. This makes it great for blue-ish dark circles but i feel you need to layer it with a normal concealer or foundation on top. I like this as a primer too as it does help eyeshadow stay on longer. The only downside to this is the price, a little steep for Revlon!
Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Under Eye Concealer £5.49
A new product from Seventeen and possibly the first concealer pot from a highstreet brand? I'd heard so many good things about the Bobbi Brown concealer i couldn't wait to give this cheaper dupe a go. I went for the lighter shade which looks dark in the compact but blended nicely once on the skin. I use my ring finger to apply this and it covers my dark circles reasonably well. As i have particularly bad dark cirles i pop Collection Illuminating Touch concealer on top of this. I would suggest useing an eye cream before applying this to avoid it going cakey.
Collection Lasting Perfection £4.19
How could i write a post on highstreet concealers and not mention this? I don't want to say to much about this as i feel everyone and their mum has already tried this but i like it, a lot. I think i'll go on re-purchasing this because of the price, the shades, the availabilty and more importantly the coverage. Two layers of this over blemishes and dark circles and i'm good to go.
Collection Illuminating Touch £4.99
I've always wanted to try the iconic Touche Eclat but i've been eschewing it as it's way out of my budget. I opted to try this as a cheaper alternative. The consistency of this is quite thick, however it is thinner than the Lasting Perfection concealer and easier to blend. This is marketed as an illuminating concealer but i have to say it's not that illuminating. However i do like using this but may try the L'oreal Lumi Magique one next to see how it compares.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer 10ml £7.99
I like the Healthy Mix foundation so i thought i'd give this a go. This provides medium coverage and slightly brightens without being overly shimmery. It can feel a little powedery after applying so i would avoid this if you suffer from very dry skin. I have shade 51 which is a good match for my pale skin. I like using this under my eyes or on any red blemishes.
Maybelliene Fit Me £5.99
I picked up the lightest shade which is still  to dark for me so i'm saving this for the summer. This medium coverage concealer has an almost gel like texture which blends easily to a natural finish. I only use this under eyes as it helps to brighten tired skin and conceals them well.

What are your concealer favourites? On my wishlist is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, Seventeen Staytime and L'oreal Lumi Magique - let me know if you've tried them!

Autumn Skincare Additions

I blimming love buying new skincare products, anyone else the same? A new season equals a new skincare routine, any excuse! My skin has been throwing a bit of a tantrum lately. I blame the weather and eating out too much.
The comedown from a Summer high is less than pretty with fine lines, sun spots and chlorine-dipped hair. Now is the time to reverse that summer damage with these handy tips and products.

REN Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Water 3-in-1 200ml £13.00*
A cleanser, make up remover and toner all in one. I use this at the end of the day to take my make up off. I was really impressed with how well it removes make up, even stubborn mascara. There is no tightness or irritation left with this gentle cleanser. This is great when i'm feeling lazy as you don't need to rinse it off (plus i can clean my face whilst watching telly) and i still feel like my skin is getting a good cleanse. This cleansing water is soap, alcohol and detergent free, it's also suitable for all skin types. If you're not into cleaning waters, REN have a whole selection of different cleanser in the Rosa Centifolia range here.
Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser £16.99
(Why such the long name?!)The Vitamin C+ range from Super Facialist is perfect for creating a more youthful, healthy glow. This brightening moisturiser contains Hyaluromic Acid and anti-oxidant rich Ferulic Acid which helps to reduce sun spots and uneven skintone. The lovely citrus scent helps to wake me up in the morning too!
Weleda Citrus Refreshing Body Oil 100ml £13.95*
As the weather shifts to drier, cooler temperatures, your skin becomes much more prone to breakage. This body oil softens and protects skin from moisture loss. It can be applied directly onto damp skin after a shower or bath. If you suffer from really dry skin i would use this in conjunction with body butter. Weleda Body Oils are formulated from carefully selected plant oils, these are rich in essential fatty acids which stimulate the regeneration and revitalisation process of the skin. This is dermatologically tested and suitable for vegans.
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub 300ml £8.00
Soap & Glory know how to make a good scrub don't they? I recently treated myself to this after finishing my tub of Flake Away. What i love about this is its sweet scent, reminds me of lime cheesecake! Seriously, this smells good enough to eat (please don't eat it, trust me). The brown sugar and macadamia grains help me to get a good scrub.
LUSH Therapy Massage Bar 50g £6.50
Massage bars melt at body temperature and turn to rich oil on skin. This is really easy to use, simply rub the bar slowly over skin, allowing it to melt. I like to use this in the shower for a more intense aroma. These come in all different scents, Therapy contains coco butter, shea butter and organic essentials oils with mood effecting benefits. Perfect for when winter has left your skin feeling and looking dry. This is such a lovely experience to use, it's the perfect pick me up on a dark winters evening!

What skincare products have you added to your routine this A/W? Keep your eyes peeled for an 'Autumn Nails' post coming up soon :)
