Signed Up for the Gym? What To Wear?

Nice view
Source: weheartit

Having taken the plunge and decided to join a gym or a fitness class near you, you are then hit with that age-old question - What do I wear? If you are historically a bit of a fitness-phobe or it’s just been a while since you exercised, knowing where to begin kitting out your gym bag can be tricky. This is not made any easier by the barrage of advertising trying to sell you one gimmick or another on their sports clothes, that quite frankly, at anything under professional level, are usually pointless. There are however, certain items of clothing that work better for different activities. Follow this guide to make sure you have the right kit when you start out on your fitness journey.

Swimming
If you have chosen swimming or a class, such as aqua aerobics or aqua zumba, as your route to getting fit, you will not need much kit at all. A bikini will not cut it though. You will need a proper swimming costume to do lengths in or jump around in a class so that you have the right level of support and are not concerned about any wardrobe malfunctions when exercising. There are many swimming costumes from George that are both practical for exercise as well as flattering and stylish. Remember a towel and something comfy to put on after your session and then you’re ready to jump in.

Gym
In any gym you will find a wide mix of people wearing a huge variety of clothes. Some like to show off their perfectly sculpted figures in a sports bra and short shorts, but the majority stay a little more covered up, opting for t-shirts, tracksuit bottoms, shorts or sports tops. Anything is acceptable in the gym and you should wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and gives you the ability to move freely. Be aware though, if you want to use the machines you should give the ultra baggy tees a miss as they may get caught in the mechanisms.

Yoga
When doing Yoga and Pilates you will be required to contort yourself into all sorts of shapes and being upright is not always a given. If you wear a loose shirt you may spend half the class with this around your head and your tummy and bra on show. For this reason it is advised that you wear clothing that is tight yet comfortable. Leggings and a strapped top are a good bet to begin with, and you can invest in proper sports tops and leggings later down the line if you wish. You don’t need specialist gear for these classes though, and many of the instructors will wear just their normal clothes, providing they are tight enough.

Well done on taking the first step towards better fitness, wellbeing and health, that’s the hardest part over with. Don’t let anxiety about what to wear hold you back. Stick to the guidelines above and find what you are most comfortable in over the first few weeks. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to working out. So have fun and get fit your way.

MUA Lash Boom Mascara: Review

As you may already know i'm a big fan of MUA. I couldn't live without my Undress Me Too palette. Lash Boom (which follows last year's Lip Boom) is their newest mascara launch costing just £3.00. As you can see from the photo above it features a rather odd wand. Read on to find out how i got on..

Here's what MUA have to say about Lash Boom. ‘Magnify your lashes for a spectacular false lash effect with the brand new MUA lash boom mascara. Encased in a gorgeous purple tube, this volumising mascara has a long wand which creates length with added drama.

Coat your lashes from root to tip for longer fuller lashes in a flash, minus the irritating clumping. The multi comb, silicone wand will catch each individual eyelash whilst defining and separating to create a flirty fanned out look.’

The Results
The brush has plastic bristles and the bulge on the end made it difficult to use to start with. Once i'd mastered the technique the wand catches the tiniest lashes on the outer corner to create a fanned out effect.  The smooth formula coats lashes evenly and leaves eyelashes clump-free.  I would agree with MUA's claim of being a volumising mascara and it helped to lengthen each lash. The only negative would be that the end of the wand can have too much product on so you have to swipe it before using to remove excess. This is a good mascara is you're on a budget but still want fluttery eyelashes!

All in all this is a great budget mascara and actually does what it claims to. I found it works just as well as mascara's costing twice as much. Well done MUA! You can get this from Superdrug or online from the MUA shop. Lash Boom retails for £3.00 for 7ml.

Autumn/Winter 2013 Makeup Trends: Eyeliner

So eyeliner is BIG this season and it's here to stay for S/S 2014. Make up artists at Anna Sui and Moschino got inventive with pencil and liquid liners by using them as eyeshadow to fill in the whole lid. If you wanted to try something that looked a little softer, at Michael Kors dramatic cat eyes were blended into sockets and paired with nude lips and sleek ponytails. Bored of black? Take inspiration from Dior who opted for silvery, ice blue winged eye liner. I love this trend as it suits all eye-shapes and looks great day or night! Whether you're going for subtle wisps or graphic blocks, here are some of my top eyeliner picks to get you ready to line___

A.K.A Cosmetics Eyeliner in Grey Blue £7 The small brush makes this really easy to get a precise line. The ' Grey Blue' shade makes a nice change from black eyeliner whilst still being really wearable. The staying power for this is great, but i do need to apply to coats two achieve a block colour.
Makeup Atelier Paris Cream Cake Liner £12.50* I found the best way to use this solid eyeliner is with a wet brush,. This glides on smoothly and dries quickly to leave an intense black line.
Cargo Texas Liner £19.50*(with mascara) The first product I've tried from Cargo and i really like it! As you can tell from the photo's above it has quite a thick tip, making it perfect for re-creating the look at Anna Sui.
Collection Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner £2.99 The nib has just the right amount of flex to it, not too hard that it's difficult to apply. The 24 hour claim is waaay too much. I'd say this lasts around 5 hours before needing to touch up. This also comes in purple, teal and blue if you're feeling creative!
Eyeko Skinny Liner £10.00* My favourite liquid liner, ever! This lasts all day with no need for touch ups, leaves an intense colour and it super easy to use. Eyeko have recently launched some metallic shades to their collection if you wanted to get the Dior A/W '13 look!
Collection Faststroke Waterproof Eyeliner £2.99 I needed a waterproof eyeliner so i thought i'd give this one a go. The formula to this is a lot more watery than any of the others mentioned above. I have to apply a few coats of this to reach full opaque-ness. This is very long-lasting but not that waterproof - sorry Collection!

Will you be trying the eyeliner trend this Autumn? Make sure you check out my other A/W makeup trend posts here and here

Vichy Idealia Life Serum: Review

I'm already a fan of the Vichy Idealia range (love the BB cream!) so i was really excited to hear they were expanding the range with the Vichy Idealia Life Serum. The new serum is designed for women who live life to the full. Instead of focusing on chronological or hormonal ageing, Vichy are targeting 'Behavioural ageing'. This includes factors such as pollution, smoke, stress, late nights, un-balanced diets and too many yager bombs. All these things effect our skins appearance and quality; changing the skin tone, skin contrast, expressivity and skin balance.

To combat this, Vichy have created a formula that focuses on repairing the skins appearance. The serum is full of skin-loving ingredients such as LR2412 and LHA. The LR2412 molecule is inspired by the jasmine flower's ability to repair itself, promoting epidermal repair and boosting the skin's natural ability to protect itself. It also works to reduce the size of pores and increase the thickness of the epidermis. The partner to this molecule is LHA; this stimulates cellular repair in tired skin with gentle exfoliating action.

Now this all sounds very impressive, but does it actually work? If you look closely at the serum it has a opalescent like effect to it. The tiny pearls help to instantly illuminate the skin and gives it a subtle healthy glow. It feels very light when applied and leaves a slight protective film without any greasy residue. About two pumps are enough to cover my face and neck. The delicate fragrance of green tea leaves, white flower and woods lingers for around 10 minutes after being applied. The serum creates a perfect base for make up allowing foundation to glide on easily. I love to apply this morning and night after cleansing, the instant glow makes my skin look fresher and i feel more confident knowing that my skin will be protected throughout the day!

Just because you're living your life, doesn't mean your skin has to show it! The Vichy Idealia Life Serum* is currently £25.05 from esentual.com here

How To Use Essential Oils in Skincare

Full of diverse applications, essential oils are the main component in aromatherapy . They help to relax the mind, balance hormones and heal the body. The uses for essential oil in your beauty routine is endless and something you need to try now! From perfumes to mouthwash - essentials oils can be used in pretty much anything. Here are a few tips and tricks to make the most of essential oil in skincare.

Because essential oils are extremely concentrated, they need to be diluted with a carrier base oil. Usually you shouldn't directly use an essential oil on skin. By diluting it with a base oil such as sunflower or grapeseed allows you to apply oils directly. Grapeseed oil, above, is a skincare superstar! The high levels of antioxidants means it will boost the effects of sunscreen and helps to treat acne too. I use this as a body oil mixed with essential oils to suit my mood.

Essential oils are perfect for DIY skincare. Use them on their own to blend together for massages, face steams, to help sleep, in the shower or even for dandruff! You'll probably already know Tea Tree is great for treating spots ( i swear by it!) but did you know it also has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties? Lemon has astringent and toning effect and also acts as a natural deodorant. Orange oil can be used to help oily and dull complexions. Diluting this with a cold cream will keep oily skin at bay and can brighten tired looking skin. Lavender is one of the most versatile and widely used oils for healing. I bet at least one of your beauty products at home contains lavender! It's soothing and relaxing properties make it ideal for headaches and muscular aches and pains. Lavender is an extremely safe oil and you can even apply it undiluted.

Miaroma have a wide range of aromatherapy products and are available from Holland & Barrett here. All of which are currently buy one get one half price!

Let me know if you would like to see any DIY skincare tutorials using essential oils :)

Blogger Spotlight: Belle Splash

If you could only wear one nail polish shade for the rest of your life, what colour/brand would it be?
This is so hard because I am a total nail polish junkie! In terms of a brand it would definitely be Barry M, their polishes have amazing formulation and they are so affordable! Although a colour I would wear forever would be Ballet Slippers by Essie, it's such a gorgeous very pale pink shade that looks so elegant and classy. I just wish it had the formulation of Barry M polishes though as it takes about 4 coats to be opaque!
What is the best beauty tip you've ever heard?
I saw on one of Glamlifeguru's videos that you should leave dry shampoo in your hair for a few minutes before brushing it out (rather than brushing it out straight away) to get it's full effects and it honestly works! I swear by dry shampoo as my hair is really thick and is a total mission to wash and this technique really helps to soak up all the oil in your hair and gives your hair such a fresh look.
You would cry if they stopped making...
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder! I am yet to find a better powder out there and I literally cannot live without it. I depend on it to finish off any make up look I do as I have combination skin so I really like to get rid of any shininess on my T-zone. I also absolutely adore the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and would be very sad if they stopped making that as it's the only foundation I have ever found to match my skin perfectly (just like the name!).
What beauty products will you be reaching for this Autumn/Winter?
I will definitely be reaching for my favourite autumn/winter nail polish and that is Piccadilly Circus by Nails Inc. It's a really pretty light purple shade that is absolutely perfect for autumn and winter and the formulation is easy to apply and long lasting. I also absolutely love an Estee Lauder lipstick in Hot Kiss, it's a plum and kind of mocha type colour that looks amazing on the lips and couldn't be any more suited for the autumn and winter. I also love my Estee Lauder Smoky Plums Deluxe Eye and Cheek Palette for autumn because it has some absolutely beautiful plum eye shadow shades!
Highstreet or highend beauty products?
I would say a bit of both! I love high street makeup and the vast majority of my beauty products are high street however some products just can't compete with some of the higher end products. There are products I adore and swear by from both ends of the spectrum so I don't think I will ever be able to chose between the two. I think when I am older and earning money I will probably reach more for the high end but right now on a student budget highstreet products suit me fine!
Three blogs you would recommend checking out?
So hard to chose just 3! But I would say Sparrow Mint (http://sparrow-mint.blogspot.co.uk/) as her blog is really unique, fun and interesting to read and she is such a lovely person. I would also say Aifric from Nocturnelle (http://nocturnelle12.blogspot.co.uk/) as even though she doesn't post that often her posts are different to what you see from most beauty bloggers as there is more of her personality put into it and that really shows. The last person I would recommend is Emily from Beauty and the Budget (http://beautyandthebudgetsblog.blogspot.co.uk/p/blog-page.html) as I love how she mainly only posts about budget beauty products and I always find products that I want to try from her posts! Her blog is definitely one of those blogs where I read every single post without fail!

Thank you to Natasha for taking part in this months blogger spotlight. Make sure to check out her lovely beauty and fashion blog here. You can also keep up to date with Natasha on twitter  and instagram. Please get in touch if you would like to take part next month, doesn't matter how long you've been blogging for or how many followers you have- i want to hear from you!

Autumn/Winter 2013 Makeup Trends: Berry Ombre Lips

One thing that shouts autumn make up is red-wine stained lipstick. Check out my post from yesterday for my top berry lipstick picks! If you wanted to try a modern take on the trend this season, why not go for ombre lips? I first saw this look stamped onto lips at Kenneth Cole a/w '13. I love how easy this is to re-create. I wrote about this look in September's issue of Pure Beauty magazine (eekk!). I've added a photograph of my mini interview below so you can give this trend a go. I used Rimmel Kate Matte in 107 for the darker shade and Natural Collection in Crimson for the lighter lipstick.

What do you think of berry ombre lips? Will you be giving this look a try for Autumn?

Autumn/Winter 2013 Makeup Trends: Berry Lips

Wine-hued, dark lipstick is nothing new for Autumn but this season it's back with new textures, finishes and formulas. In some cases, such as at Byblos, lips were precisely painted in a deep plum shade whilst eye make up was kept nude. At Prada a purple lip stain was softly dabbed onto lips to create a wearable, effortless look. I love this trend because it suits all different skin tones. If you're not brave enough to try dark lipstick a good place to start is with a gloss or balm. Purple toned lipstick can be a toughie to pull off , but lightly applied with fingers they become a whole lot more wearable. I've chosen six berry-beautiful shades to help you decide what lipstick you'll be rocking this A/W.
You''l notice that all the lipsticks mentioned are from the highstreet. I think highstreet brands are extremely good when it comes to creating high quality, on-trend products at affordable prices, giving highend brands a run for there money. Did you hear Mac have increased the price of their lipsticks AGAIN? Think i'll be sticking to good old drugstore makeup!

Rimmel Kate Matte '107' (£5.49) This was my first dark lipstick purchase. After seeing so many bloggers look great in this i plucked up the courage and haven't looked back since. The formula is matte so it can be quite drying. I use my Lush lip scrub before applying this and finish with a layer of lip balm.
Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede '035 Backstage' (£8.99) The newest edition to my plumy lipstick collection. These aren't as nourishing as the Revlon Lip Butter, but they do last longer. 'Backstage' is an intense blackcurrent red. When you first apply this it does feel a little sticky but after 20 minutes it dries to a suede finish. The 16 hour claim is a bit far-fetched, around 5 hours before needing to re-apply isn't bad!
Collection Volume Sensation '4 Plum Perfection' (£2.99) In the tube this looks like a frosty finish, however once applied to the lips it has a creamy effect. This applies really smoothly and has great colour pay-off. Perfect if you want to try the berry trend on a budget.
PUR Minerlas Lipgloss Sticks 'Berry Pretty'* (£16.00) These lipgloss sticks are ridiculously easy to apply, no mirror necessary for application. They provide a moisturising splash of colour. As you can see from the swatch above it leaves a subtle berry tint and they apply super smoothly. The vitamin E and natural oils help to hydrate lips too. These are quite pricey at £16.00 a pop but they are paraben free, don't test on animals and contain no nasties. Available from Marks & Spencer here
L'oreal Colour Riche '325 Feeric Fushia' (£8.19) This glides on smoothly and has a rich, shiny formula. The shade is a dark red with purple undertones and subtle flecks of shimmer. Looking at this against the other lipsticks, the packaging looks really expensive!
Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain '005 Crush' (£7.99) A nourishing balm with a hint of stain is probably the best way to describe these. There's a lot of comparisons to the Clinique chubby sticks but i've never tried them. I have the shade 'Crush' which is a black cherry colour. I love that this applies sheer but can be built up for a more intense colour.

Hopefully this has given you some vampy lipstick inspiration, next week there will be an a/w lipstick tutorial :) I'll also be posting a lot more Autumn 2013 beauty trends! What are your favourite berry shades?

New Beautyuk Posh Palette in Eden: Review

Mum: "Kia, you don't need another eyeshadow palette! " Me: "It's not for me, it's for my readers..."
Mums reaction when she caught me swatching the new Posh palette from Beautyuk. Fellow beauty bloggers will understand.

Now you may think this looks quite similar to the MUA Undressed palette and Undress Me too (both of which i own #sorrynotsorry) and you'd be right. If your a fan of neutral, dusky, sultry colours you'll love 'Eden'.

The palette consists of ten mainly shimmery shades with a couple of mattes for shading. I like the simple white packaging and the mirror on the inside of the lid. The eyeshadow quality overall is good. As you can see from the photos above, some are more pigmented than others. The second shade in particular doesn't have very good colour pay-off. However, the colours are buildable and work best with a wet eyeshadow brush. I can see this becoming an everyday essential for me!

Beautyuk Posh Palettes come in three different designs and retail for £5.99 from Superdrug or online here.

Taylor by Taylor Swift fragrance: Review

This is Taylor Swift's third fragrance. Unlike the first two which were inspired by fairy tales, 'Taylor' is much more personal to her as it reflects her personal style and represents Taylor at this moment in her life.
Taylor is a sweet, floral-fruity fragrance with a woody base. To start with you get hints of lychee, tangerine and magnolia. This settles down to reveal a creamy tangerine, apricot nectar and soft vanilla scent.

The blue tube the fragrance comes in is embellished with vibrant swirls, giving the packaging a retro look. As you can see from the photo above, a gold 13 is stamped onto the top because it's Taylor's lucky number. I've tried Taylor's first fragrance WonderStuck and this one smells much more grown up to me. What I love about this is how long lasting the fragrance is. Even after a shower i'm left with a sweet, magnolia scent!

Taylor by Taylor Swift Rollerball* 10ml £12 from Superdrug

How To Get Glowing Skin Without Makeup

So the golden days of summer are behind us. We'll soon be swapping our tinted moisturisers for foundations and digging out our beloved cosy jumpers. I like summer but i LOVE winter. Roll on nights spent watching X factor/Strictly with a cuppa before curling into bed with a food coma. If you're missing the sun or just that summer glow, i've been employing the help from these glow getters to cure that summer-glow separation!

Firstly to combat dull skin you need to regularly exfoliate. A build-up of dead skin cells results in a loss of brightness and causes skin to look tired. I've been using  theYon-Ka Phyto-Gel Exfoliant (Link) twice a week. The body scrub has a thick, green gel consistency with fine grains on bamboo and jojoba pearls. It also helps to soften the skin as it contains lactic acid and almond proteins. A more affordable alternative would be St.Ives Invigorating All Over Body Scrub 300ml (£5.09). This comes in a big tub which is ideal for using up all the product. After just one use skin feels instantly softer and smoother, I love the apricot scent this has!

Now your body is prepped(don't forget to moisturise!), it's time to hold onto that tan. Xen-Tan Luminous Gold Gel (£24.99) is a clear gel with iridescent gold sparkles and a light tropical scent. This takes around 3 hours to fully develop into a natural golden brown. The gold shimmer flecks leaves skin with a healthy, dewy finish and the super quick drying formula means you don't have to wait around to get changed.

We all have our favourite fixes when it comes to combating those pesky eye bags (frozen spoons for me!), but these quick fixes don't last so it's important to use an eye cream for long-term results. The new L'oreal Skin Perfection eye cream is perfect for quenching tired eyes, warding off crows feet and concealing dark circles. My current go-to eye cream!

Who doesn't love a bit of sunshine? However too much can leave you with dry, sun burnt, spotty skin. Good Things Five Minute Facial Face Mask (£5.99) is perfect for troubled skin. The mask is packed full of renowned skin boosting ingredients such as green clay (impurities), avocado(moisturises), willow bark (radiance) and goji berries (soothes). This mask claims to brighten, clear and hydrate skin in just five minutes. This smells lovely and leaves skin feeling really soft, the deliciously fruity scent makes it a pleasure to use. I apply this once a week for an instant pick me up!

KIKO is a brand that never fails to impress me, their newest launch is no exception. Neon Glow, Light Effect Serum (£13.90) combines innovative skincare and cosmetic solutions to create a hybrid of a highlighter and a serum. This kinda reminds me of a skincare version of Benefits High Beam highlighter. Using this daily will help to renew the skins natural brightness, green tea absorbs and retains moisture to keep skin hydrated whilst Hylauronic acid encourages cell renewal and promotes collagen production. I apply this after cleansing and my skin instantly feels smoother and looks more awake. The micro pearls gives the skin a subtle glow. I apply a little extra onto my cheek and brow bones for added radiance. Be quick if you want this, it's limited edition

Super Facialist is the skincare range by Una Brennan, a skincare specialist based in London. The Super Facialist Vitamin C Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser (£16.99) is part of the new Vitamin C range. The collection of Vitamin C products aim to brighten and smooth skin leaving a glowing, radiant complexion. This moisturiser has light texture which melts into the skin easily. It creates the perfect canvas for applying make up. It has a strong citrus aroma which smells really fresh and uplifting, definitely helps me wake up. Immediately after using this my skin looks brighter and healthier. Another thing i love about this is that it has UVA/UVB protection. Some bloggers are saying this is a good affordable dupe for Origins GinZing moisturiser, got to love a dupe!

The last stop on the road to glowing skin is night cream. My current go to bedtime cream is Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream (£4.99) which claims to brighten and hydrate skin overnight. The rich, pink cream contains hylaruonic acid, proven to boost moisture levels as well as brightening hibiscus which acts as a mild exfoliator. The cream has a thick texture but absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. In the morning my skin feels hydrated and looks slightly brighter after using this. Not bad for under £5!

As always, let me know if you would like a full in-depth review of any of the products mentioned above. What are you product recommendations for brighter, glowing skin?

Vintage Cosmetic Company Brush Roll + Manicure Set: Review

Ok, first things first. How cute is the packaging?! For you today i've got two beauty accessories to talk about.  The floral brush roll and pink striped manicure set are the newest products from The Vintage Cosmetic Company launching September 9th . If you've not heard of the brand before, they started by creating a range of vintage inspired eyelashes in May 2011. They have now expanded the range to include products such as brushes, tweezers, eyelash curlers and much more! These are the first products i've tried from the brand, read on to hear my thoughts...

The brush roll* (£9.95)is ideal for neatly storing and organizing make up brushes. The 50's inspired print is made of easy-to-clean, durable material. It has 12 different sized brush holes and a side zip pouch to store extra items. The roll folds up easily and secures with a popper to stop brushes from falling out.

This cute little manicure purse* (£10) includes a nail file, cuticle pusher, nail clippers and scissors. All of which comes in a handy (get it?!) pink striped case. Perfect size for popping in your handbag - you never know when you might need it!

Both products look lovely but more importantly they are extremely practical. I've been using the brush roll at home to store my brushes, it will also be perfect for travelling. The manicure purse has become my favourite beauty tool!

The Vintage Cosmetic Company is available from their online store here or at larger Boots. They are currently offering a £5.00 off voucher when you spend £10 by signing up to their newsletter! Visit the Vintage Cosmetic Company website to claim your £5.00 voucher.

SpongeBob SquarePants Nail Art: Review

I'm the sort of person who loves nail art but isn't very good at it! If you're like me, fear not i have the answer. 'Sophie Does Nail Art' is an online shop by the Sophie Hamer. She hand paints bespoke and personalised nail designs. She is incredibly talented, some of her unique designs include Mickey Mouse prints, Pac Man and these cute little panda's! Each set costs just £5 and Sophie ships worldwide (Yay!). I was kindly sent these amazing SpongeBob SquarePants nails to try out!

The nails come with a set of instruction on how to apply them. I bought some nail glue from Boots for £2.50 which i'd really recommend as they stayed on for a week! I received lots of compliments on my nails, thank you Sophie!

You can purchase Sophie's nails via her Etsy shop here or on her website here. Make sure to follow Sophie on twitter (@SophieHamerMUA) and her nail art account (@so_nailed). Sophie also paints onto natural nails, so if you're based in the Taunton area check her out!

Post-Festival Beauty Must Haves

If you follow me on twitter you'll know that i went to Reading festival last weekend(amazing!). As much as i love going to festivals, i hate being away from my regular stash of beauty products and not following my usual routine. After using face wipes and dry shampoo for 4 days my skin needs some serious TLC. If you've just got back from a festival or heading of to one soon - here are my top post-festival picks!

Tired Eyes
So you need to catch up on your sleep after a weekend of late nights and dancing. To concealer dark circles and hide tired eyes i recommend the new L'oreal Skin Perfection Eye Cream. It's described as a awakening and correcting cream as it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, dark circles and eye bags. I really like this because it's slightly tinted and illuminating, one of the best eye creams i've tested!
Dry/Chapped Lips
Your lips will probably be looking dry and uncared for. A few nights of wearing a intensive lip balm will get them looking kissable in no time. I've been using the Kiehl's Lip Balm #1. With this a little bit goes along way so use sparingly to avoid greasy lips! It also has a strong coconut scent,Mmmm...
Achy Muscles
After lugging around a tent, sleeping bag and your rug sack it can take a toll on our bodies. The Deep Heat Muscle Rescue Neck and Shoulder Cream* is a life saver! It's a warming cream which helps to relieve muscle tension. The gentle herbal scent is very soothing and the sponge applicator makes it easy to apply. A relaxing bath soak like Deep Heat Muscle Rescue Bath Soak* is perfect to soothe achy muscles. The main ingredients in this is electrolyte minerals which are a combination of atomised sea water, minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, sodium and iron. As well as this the rosemary, patchouli and orange essential oils smell so luxurious creating the perfect spa aroma.
Pesky Spots
My skin didn't react well to a weekend of eating junk food and using face wipes. After double cleansing, try a deep cleansing face mask like Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask. It contains skin loving ingredients such as green clay, manuka honey and geranium which work together to purify and redulate oiliness.
Partied-out Skin
The latest product from the Vichy Idealia range is their new Life Serum; designed for women who want to live a little, it repairs the skins quality if you've been working hard, out late, eating junk food...just enjoying yourself! The serum has a luminous pink tint to it which leaves skin with a natural glow and instantly brightens up your face. You can wear it alone or under your daily moisturiser. I'll be doing a full review of this soon...keep your eyes peeled!

Have you been to any festivals this year? What were your must have beauty products when you got home?

Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde range: Review

I love being blonde but it's a lot of up-keep. Fellow faux blondes will know that hair can't get a bit frazzled from the regular bleaching and colouring, so it's really important to use haircare products specially designed for blonde hair. I've been testing out the Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Shampoo, Forever Blonde Conditioner and Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair.

The Forever Blonde range from Paul Mitchell contains KerActive protein which helps to repair damaged hair by hugging every strand to leave hair smoother and protected. It also boasts Safflower oleosomes help to restore lost moisture and add shine to blonde locks.
Both the Forever Blonde shampoo and conditioner have a purple tint to them, this is something i look for in blonde haircare products as it helps to reduce pesky brassiness. I don't think my hair has every felt so soft after using a shampoo and conditioner, it feels ridiculously soft which is hard to achieve with colour treated hair. About once a week i use the Forever Blonde Dramatic repair spray which aims to hydrate dry hair as it helps to strenghten and seal the cuticle. It's very hard to judge whether it makes my hair stronger however it does make my hair look even smoother.

The Results
The photo's above are before and after. I took the second one after using the Forever Blonde range for two weeks. You can see from the photo's that my hair looks softer and has more shine to it. My hair is slightly brighter too! If you're a natural or colour-treated blonde you might want to check out this Paul Mitchell range. Also, if sulphate-free or cruelty-free haircare products is something you look out for, Paul Mitchell products will be perfect for you.

Forever Blonde Shampoo, Conditioner and Dramatic Repair £14.95 each. Available from Selected Salons.

August Obsessions
