Getting Ready For Summer With Yves Rocher

It feels like Summer is well and truly on the way (three cheers for BBQ's, road trips and beach days). As the seasons change so do my beauty bits and bobs. With a little help from Yves Rocher I'll be Summer ready quicker than you can say "Uno tequila sunrise por favor".

Delicate Cleansing Cream* £6.90 I've not had any experience with cleansing creams before so was eager to give this a go. The formula is quite strange as it doesn't foam up. The thick cleanser made my hair feel a little heavy once I rinsed it out. I'm not sure if I used too much or maybe it doesn't work for thick hair but I didn't get on well with this.
Lagoon Hair & Body Wash* £3.20 If summer had a smell it would surely be exotic flowers and citrus fruit scented like this blue beauty. It lathers delicately and is designed to remove all traces of salt and sand - now I just need to book a holiday!
Rinsing Vinegar* £11.30 Although I have never tried it I know vinegar is great for adding shine to hair. You use this by applying it all over damp hair and rinsing out thoroughly. It has an addictive raspberry scent which smells truly scrumptious. Despite loving the smell I was a bit underwhelmed by the results. My hair didn't look particularly shiny and the raspberry scent didn't really linger.
Monoi Precious Dry Oil* £14.90 The secret to everlasting summer skin is in this bottle. This shimmering dry oil is ideal for smoothing and moisturising sun-soaked skin, as well as maintaining a natural tan, and insuring a truly radiant glow. I find this best applied to damp skin for optimum hydration and a subtle sun-kissed sheen.

8 Things To Consider Before Cutting Your Hair Short

8 Things To Consider Before Cutting Your Hair Short
  1. Are you prepared to get new makeup and clothes to go with your new look?
  2. Your neck will get cold, invest in a chunky scarf.
  3. You may not be able to tie your hair up, your go-to top knot is no longer an option.
  4. Drying time is A LOT quicker.
  5. And similarly with brushing.
  6. Shorter hair doesn't mean it will be less maintenance than longer locks.
  7. Try doing a 'fake bob' to see if you'll suit the length.
  8. 'Lobs' are cool right now.

Prepare yourself for softer showers as Dove have just added a new body wash to their range. I'm more of a shower than a bath kinda gal and I love to try out different body washes. My favourite products to buy are body scrubs as I love the feeling of smooth skin afterwards. The new Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash from Dove gently cleanses whilst exfoliating sand beads smooth dry, dull skin. It is gentle enough for everyday use and doesn't strip the skin. Brand Focus: Revlon

Hello there! Today I am starting a new blog series where I will focus on one particular beauty brand and talk to you about my favourite products from them. I'm starting off the series with one of my favourite drugstore brands, Revlon. I love how innovative their products are such as their scented nail varnish and photoready range. Here are my top 5 must-have products from Revlon, Enjoy!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation £12.49
I discovered this foundation in my early teens when I first started getting interested in makeup. I picked up this one because I wanted something which offered full coverage without looking cakey. The colour selection is great and I find the shade 'Buff' perfect for my pale skin. I also love that you can choose between Normal/Dry and Oily/Combination depending on your skin type. The foundation provides a flawless finish that doesn't look heavy. It also stays on my skin around 12 hours. The only thing that would make this product better was if it had a pump!
Revlon Grow Luscious Eyeliner
This is one of my favourite kohl liners for lining my top lash line. It has a dreamy, creamy texture which lasts all day and applies effortlessly. The gorgeous soft texture and pigmentation makes this the perfect liner - however I'm having trouble finding it online. Please don't say they have discontinued it!
Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter £7.99
A lip balm/ lipstick hybrid is the best way to describe these. Lip butters are ideal if you suffer from dry lips or are wanting a natural looking lipstick. The creamy formula glides on smoothly and gives a lovely sheen to lips. The soft, butter texture does mean these run out quicker than a normal lipstick and you do have to apply them more often. I love the colour selection of these and with 21 shades to choose from you're guaranteed to find something you'll love.
Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator £11.99
I'm a huge fan of the Photoready range, the products really do make your skin look amazing in photographs! Light-capturing crystals in this primer banish dullness and help to highlight your features. I like to apply a pea-sized amount all over before foundation to get that lit-from-within glow.
Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balm £7.99
Revlon really know how to make good lip products. I'm obsessed with their different balm stains. Although I like the matte version I prefer using the lacquer balms because of the hydrating formula and long wear. The shiny finish makes your lips look soft and pretty - the perfect spring lip product. Also, the chubby crayon design means these can be applied in a rush without a mirror!

What are you favourite Revlon products? Which brand would you like me to feature in the next instalment?

Weekend catch-up

In a bid to make this little part of the Internet more personal and keep updated with you guys regularly I'm starting a new series. I love beauty products. Not just love, I adore them. Buying a new lipstick makes my heart flutter and my palms all sweaty. The feeling of using a new moisturiser for the first time is an unbeatable pleasure. I want to share with you my weekly beauty stories; whether that be new purchases, empties, sales..or just anything that gets me excited.

Testing out: When I stay around my boyfriend's place I'll ALWAYS forget to pack something and in last weeks case it was foundation. Initially the thought of being naked in the face department all weekend made me feel sick but I did it and to my surprise it wasn't that bad after all. I decided to spend the week sans foundation and my skin is thanking me for it. I feel so much more confident without wearing a base and I'll continue to do so. I'm pretty happy with my skin but one niggle I do have is the scars that are left behind from blemishes. I have a fair few on my chin and to try and get rid of them I have been using Remescar. I've heard loads of good things about it so will keep you updated.

Sales: Boots are currently offering 15% off when you spend £30 or more of premium beauty products. They haven't said when the offer will end but I would stock up on your favourites before they go out of stock!

New in: Launching next month are lots of lovely new lipsticks and nail varnishes from Collection. I'm such a huge fan of the brand already and these new products have increased my admiration. I'll be testing out the new products next week and keep you updated.

Products of the week: If you're following me on Instagram you would have seen I recently chopped off my long locks and opted for a lob. I had been ogling over pictures of Rosie Huntington Whitely's short cut and I decided to just go for it! I'm so happy I did, I'm loving short hair! A new hairstyle means new hair products, right? I've been using the Tevor Sorbie Colour shampoo and conditioner to prolong my darker colour and I'm on the hunt for a volumizing product to add some texture to my roots. Any recommendations?

Wishlist: I'm a drugstore girl at heart but this week Chanel has me lusting after their new CC cream. At a whopping £44.00 a go it's not cheap. But the beautiful packaging and impressive SPF 50 has me yearning to make this beauty mine.

Let me know if you like the idea of this feature and if you had any categories in mind for next week's catch-up!

5 Pink Lipsticks for Spring

pink lipstick for spring
We are starting to see the first few glimpses of Spring and I'm fully ready to embrace a new makeup look. This year i'll be sporting dewy skin, bronzed eyes, peachy cheeks, textured hair and of course - pink lips. I love how pink lips can be bold and sexy or soft and pretty, plus it's not as harsh as a red lip making it a super wearable look. Here are 5 different kinds of lipsticks for 5 different looks..

Bourjois Colour Boost Balm
A light wash of peachy-pink with SPF 15. This hydrating balm would be great to take on holiday because of the added sun protection. The glossy finish isn't sticky and looks great paired with a golden tan.
Revlon Moisture Stain
At first I wasn't a big fan of these but they have grown on me! This applies like a lipgloss but feels more wet than gloopy. Once dried down it leaves a beautiful pink stain without drying the lips. This looks really pretty and gives you that I-woke-up-like-this look.
Bourjois Velvet Rouge
For a fierce lipstick, look no further than the Bourjois Velvet Editions. The creamy texture dries matte and has extreme longevity. There is a great choice of pink/nude shades in this range!
Glo&Ray Creamy Matte Lip Colour
Fans of traditional style lipsticks will love this offering from Glo&Ray. The intense colour pay-off looks bright and bold. Wear with minimal makeup for an on-trend spring look.
Barry M Loud Mouth
A lip gloss for grown ups. These pack a real punch and aren't for the faint-hearted. For an extremely pink pout opt for this. Because of the glossy finish not one for a dinner date or making out session..

Will you be rocking a pink lip this spring?

Budget Buy For Blonde Hair

Fellow blondes will know just how much of a struggle it is to maintain. Although us blondes do have more fun, we are constantly combating dryness and dulling. I've been testing out a product which claims to solve all your blonde hair woes for just £1.

The Sunshine Blonde range from Creightons is designed to help with dulling, dryness, colour change and elasticity. I always use products created for coloured hair to prolong getting my locks re-done. This range is specially made for natural and coloured blondes. The shampoo is extra moisturising and as my hair needs all the extra moisture it can get I use a generous dollop. The silky formula softens and smooths damaged hair without leaving it feeling weighed down. The conditioner also helps to smooth dry hair and brighten dull, brassy tones. Both products used together leave my hair feeling super soft and really does help to brighten my blonde strands. For £1 a bottle I am pleasantly surprised!

Sunshine Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner £1 each from Poundland

Royally Good April Birchbox

birchbox april royally good

So I'm sure you're aware of Kate Middleton, no? Google her she's quite famous. Kate is due to give birth to baby number 2 this month and Birchbox are celebrating with a royal baby themed box! There are two boxes to choose from - one pink and one blue. Here's what I got in my little blue box.

Laura Mercier Eye Pencil
This is my first ever Laura Mercier product - I feel fancy! I love seeing higher end items in beauty boxes and couldn't wait to give this a go. This long-wearing violet liner does not budge once applied and is a struggle to get off. A great addition to my makeup bag!
Lola Barcelona Nail Polish
This product is exclusive to Birchbox. The bright pink shade is almost fluorescent and would look good against a tan.
Percy & Reed No Oil Oil
I have tried and loved this before so I was happy to have a travel-sized version. I love using this oil as it has a serum-like texture which doesn't leave hair feeling greasy.
Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
A double-duty cleanser and exfoliator suitable for all skin types. I haven't tried anything from bliss before so I'm excited to give this a go!
Korres Bergamot Pear Showegel
Korres is one of those cult beauty brands that everyone loves. This sweet scented shower gel smells AMAZING and will be perfect for taking on holiday.
Inner Me Energise Me (bonus item)
An energy-boosting blend of vitamins and minerals to help support busy bodies. I'm not very good at remembering to take vitamins so i'll be passing on to someone else.

I love the cute theme behind April's box and there are some nice luxe samples included which I think the duchess herself would approve of.

Birchbox is £10 (+£2.95 p&p) per box*. Get your Royally Good box here.

Contour and Highlight Products For Pale Skin

contouring for pale skin
Contouring and highlighting has been a really popular trend as of late (thanks mainly to a group of sisters with matching first-letter names). Boots has been taken over by contour palettes, sticks and creams. The look can be a little scary and seem quite difficult to perfect but the wide range of products available has made the whole process a lot easier - especially for fellow pale gals!

Go for a bronze colour which is 2-3 shades darker. A little bit goes a long way and I find it better to build colour up gradually. If you do go a bit heavy handed you can always apply a translucent powder on top to dull down the colour. I like the Maybelline Sun Dream bronzer in Blonde which adds a subtle hint of warmth and depth to the parts you want to contour. It doesn't have an orange tint like so many others too! If you're struggling to find a shade right for you, take a look at the powder you normally use and get one a couple of shades darker. Sometimes I'll skip contour and just opt for highlighter for a softer look.

I love using highlighter and the highstreet has a host of gorgeous products to choose from. My current favourite is the Seventeen Skin Wow Primer which I use all over before applying foundation. It gives skin a lovely dewy glow and brightens a dull complexion. If you're after something to just highlight certain areas such as your brow bone the No7 Highlight Stick is a foolproof option. For a more budget-friendly product the Essence Cream To Powder Highlight is another great one.

For highlighting the inner corners of my eyes I reach for the COLLECTION Shadow Pencil in the lightest shade. The creamy texture is quite opaque and covers blue tones really well. On days when I know I'm going to be photographed the Revlon SkinLights in Pink Light gives skin a subtle glow without giving you that washed-out look.
